The Tox Shop
Vesper Gray Med Spa offers treatments and services in Downtown Denver. Botox and Xeomin are two facial injection treatments that work to reverse visible signs of aging by relaxing the muscles beneath the skin’s surface. Wrinkles form over time as a result of repeated muscle contractions we’ve made over the years. These lines can be caused by a loss of elasticity or collagen, dehydrated skin, smoking, genetics, and sun damage – yes, years basking in the Colorado sun has life-long side effects!
It typically takes 7-14 days to see the full results but results vary. We encourage our patients to repeat their treatment every three to four months to maintain your results.
What are the Benefits of Wrinkle Relaxers for Aesthetics?
Facial wrinkle relaxers can take years off your appearance and make you feel young again – a simple, fast treatment can take years off your complexion. Most people use facial injections to target moderate to severe smile lines, frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. While smile lines around the eyes or laugh lines around the mouth are more noticeable as the years go by, they are easily treated with injections.

Frequently Asked Questions About Facial Injectables
The main difference between Xeomin and Botox is that Xeomin contains a “naked” form of botulinum toxin. Unlike Botox, which contains accessory proteins, Xeomin is designed to deliver the toxin without any protein additives. Both injectables begin working as soon as they’re injected into the muscle. For aesthetic purposes, their full effect is seen a minimum of seven to 14 days after injection but results vary.
Xeomin and Botox both contain botulinum toxin but they are not the same drug. Xeomin contains a different form of botulinum toxin that contains no accessory proteins, unlike Botox. Xeomin also has less storage restrictions, meaning it doesn’t have to be refrigerated before use. Both drugs work to smooth the skin and rid it of frown lines. Both comparable in effectiveness, some studies have shown Xeomin has a quicker onset and longer duration. Ask the team at Vesper Gray Med Spa what treatment they recommend for your skincare needs.
For most patients, wrinkle relaxers are more preventative than restorative. The active ingredient in the drug “freezes” facial muscles to keep you from contracting them in ways that deepen lines and wrinkles. This means that any lines you have when at rest will not disappear. They will smooth out in appearance but most importantly, injections prevent deeper lines. Therefore, the earlier you get treatments, the more preventative its effects — hence the trend of getting Botox in your 20s.
Your injectionist will review this information with you during your treatment. You will be advised not to exercise until the following day, to not lie down, or take any blood-thinning medications (including Ibuprofen), which could increase bruising at the injection sites. In addition, no massaging of the injected areas for 4 hours after your treatment.
The short answer: it varies by patient. The number of injections needed varies from person to person, which changes the total price. As a safe estimate, you can expect to pay anywhere in the $350-$500 range for facial injections treating your forehead.
The most common side effects include headache and injection site reactions. After receiving an injection, you may experience minor redness, pain, swelling, or bruising around the area. The needle will often leave tiny red dots that look like bug bites; these usually disappear in the hours following your treatment.
Since Xeomin and Botox are localized treatments, they have a low risk of transferring to the bloodstream, however, there is still a risk of fetal harm, especially if large amounts are administered. Consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant and seeking injectables.
Both Xeomin and Botox last on average for three months. Everyone is different though, so plan on scheduling out your next appointment approximately three to four months out.
