Dermaplaning is a treatment that brings exfoliation to the next level! Considered very gentle and safe, dermaplaning removes the superficial layer of dead skin cells that are dulling your complexion. Additionally, vellus hairs that form “peach fuzz” on the skin are also gently removed. At Vesper Gray we offer various Dermaplane treatment options.
The Benefits of Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is an ideal treatment if you’re looking for intense exfoliation that goes deeper than anything you can do at home. It is sometimes referred to as “blading.” During the treatment, our trained aestheticians gently scrape away the top layer of your skin to remove dead skin and dullness with an intense level of precision. The skin that is revealed is smooth, fresh and supple!
Why Choose Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a great choice if you’re simply tired of looking at dull skin resulting from slow cell turnover. It is also a good option if you have sensitive skin that responds poorly to laser hair removal. During a dermaplane treatment, the thin hairs lining your face are removed along with the top layer of your old skin. In addition to providing aesthetic benefits, the hair removal also boosts your personal skincare routine by allowing your creams and serums to penetrate the skin more easily without a hair barrier.
What to Expect From a Dermaplane Treatment
At Vesper Gray Med Spa, we use a disposable sterile, surgical scalpel blade to level the skin. The motion used is very similar to a “barber shop” shave. Sensitive areas around the eyes and nose are avoided during the dermaplaning process. Following your dermaplaning session, you can return to normal life. You may experience slight redness and irritation in the hours following your treatment. It’s recommended that you allow your skin to “breathe” for the rest of the day by skipping any creams or cosmetics. However, some light moisturizer applied for bed can soothe and nourish your new skin overnight. You’ll be instructed on how to care for your post-dermaplane skin following your treatment with the Vesper Gray team.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, the vellus (peach fuzz) hairs that are removed during dermaplaning will eventually grow back. It will be necessary to have them removed regularly to stop growth. Typically, dermaplaning maintenance treatments can be done every 30 days.
Dermaplaning will not typically irritate the skin or cause side effects if your skin is in good condition. However, some people with very sensitive or inflamed skin may experience irritation and delayed healing with this treatment. Our aestheticians can examine your skin to let you know if you’re a good candidate for dermaplaning. If you have a skin condition that causes your skin to be easily irritated, talk to the Vesper Gray team to discuss some alternatives that will allow you to safely and comfortably exfoliate your skin.
Dermaplaning can be a tool for breakout prevention by removing the dead skin cells and oils that are clogging up your pores. While dermaplaning won’t cause you to break out if your skin is currently clear, it can irritate an ongoing breakout.
Dermaplaning leaves your skin more vulnerable, so it’s important to be extra kind to your skin after your treatment and focus on skincare. This means applying a nourishing, soothing moisturizer to ensure your skin doesn’t dry out. If you plan on going outside, always apply an SPF sunscreen to protect your skin from UV. The vellus hair will eventually grow back, so you’ll need regular follow-up facial appointments to keep your skin smooth.
